Washington, DC 200081-Day Exhibition: 10am ? 3pm

Hanjigrim artwork, which at first has the appearance of a carefully textured painting, is composed entirely of small pieces of traditional, naturally dyed paper (hanji) pasted together by hand to create natural forms and detailed images. No artificial dye or paint is used in the process. First pioneered by Ms. Su Jung Cho more than two decades ago, Hanjigrim has taken a prominent place in Korean culture thanks to its mixture of traditional techniques and modern innovation.
This one-day special exhibition features vibrant hanjigrim works by more than 30 artists, as well as an opening reception with a presentation and demonstration by Ms. Cho, beginning at 12:30 pm on June 18. The exhibition will also be on display at Freedom Plaza near the White House on June 19 (11am-3pm), and at the Won-Buddhism of Washington DC Temple (4257 Muncaster Mill Road, Rockville, MD 20853) June 20-30 (1-5pm daily). The exhibition tour is organized by the Soojung Korean Paper-Art Institute with support from the Won-Buddhism of Washington DC Temple.
