Help us & share your favorite Korean songs, plus K-news & word of the week

Hello, Annyong Haseyo!

Quick update & request.

We need your help for picking your favorite Korean music for our next event. What are your favorite Korean groups, songs, and melodies? Even if you can't attend our Summer Dinner Party or other events, we can all benefit by sharing our top picks. Reply to this email if you're shy, or let everyone know here on our forum.

If you can attend our Summer Dinner Party on Saturday, bring your favorite music - Korean or whatever! The restaurant can play CD's and iPod/MP3 players hooked up. Or you can just perform a song for us! So far there are over 20 Yes RSVP's for the dinner.

And speaking of MP3 players, one of the giveaways at the Summer Dinner Party is an MP3 player. Other giveaways include language books, an 8GB thumb drive, and other surprises. RSVP

Filmmaking/Acting: Some of the other meetup groups I'm involved with relate to film-making, and some of you may be interested in the upcoming Aug. 7 Special Event: Collaborative Film Shoot. No experience necessary to help out or just hang out. And if you're an actor/actress/model/filmmaker/director - or want to try - it's a way to test the waters. No cost.

Korean Word Of The Week:
Chobo - someone who is new to something - a "novice" - especially in Internet gaming. See the word in hangul along with other words on this List of English words of Korean origin (Wikipedia)

Korean-related news:

* Rain is going into the army.
* South Korea has many internet-addicted gamers
* Busan wants to re-invent itself, including a bid to host the 2020 Olympic games.

Let us know you have ideas for events or other ways to improve our group (replies to this email go to me).

Have a great week,

Paul
