FAQ0. (IMPORTANT) If I pay early, am I guaranteed to go?
There are a few units booked, each with two bedrooms.
We can book more units, based on how many people RSVP.
But if the resort gets booked up, then we will be full.
Since there are extra sleeping areas in each unit,
we have some flexibility.
The limit of RSVP's is set as an estimate.1. What if I don't know if I can go?
This event is expected to sell out, and we can't hold spots.
It's not clear how meetup.com does "wait list", but
if there is a wait list, then you can probably release
your ticket and get a refund. No refund is promised.
But it is likely, since we are expecting more demand than beds.2. What if I wanna crash out on the couch... is that cheaper or even free?
We're calling this "STANDBY RSVP" -
We may allow this on a limited basis.
Basically if the people in that unit are okay with
party crashers, and there is an extra bed as set up by
the resort, then you can decide last-minute to go.
2.a. If people want to drive out for the day and have dinner,
and then go back the same day, that should work out.
And if it is snowing, etc. then we will try to have room
in case day visitors have to stay over.2.b. Huh? I'm confused!
We expect last-minute begging of "I want to go... pleeeeaasse!"
While we don't want to "book" a pull-out couch bed,
there may be a chance for everyone to go. 3. I heard you need a car to go everywhere... how does that work?
We will deal with it. Mobile phone coverage may be weak or
have dead zones, so we will work hard to make sure people are '
able to get around.4. I need a ride! (or) I can drive!
We need about 4 drivers. Drivers get special treatment:
Gas money, toll money, and smiles.
If you need a ride, then say where you are coming from.
We will suggest a pick-up at the Vienna metro.
People will go at different times, and even different days.
Work out who you can ride with.5. I want to share a room with my friend - can I do that?
Yes. Include it in your RSVP, and it will be confirmed.6. I want a vegetarian menu - is that part of the plan?
Yes. Help us with shopping suggestions. There will
be meat-based dishes, and vegetarian options.7. I don't ski - I don't snowboard - and I don't ice skate.
Is this trip for me?
Could be... it's a weekend retreat, at a resort that has
skiing and other winter activities. But people go in
the summer and don't ski, so probably it will be awesome
just getting away to escape the regular life.8. I'm only staying one night - can I pay less?
Nope. You can get someone to take your other nights,
if you work out an arrangement.9. What if I'm loud, obnoxious, and yelling at 2am?
You may be asked to leave. Seriously. This is a
resort and other units are nearby. 10. What? I wanna stay up late and talk and play game and stuff...!
Okay. The plan is that one unit will be the "late night"
one, with the bigger kitchen and social area.
The other unit(s) will depend on the people there,
but to be fair to everyone, expect that it should be quiet by midnight.
(calm TV watching is okay, loud music & dancing is not).11. Is there TV? Internet?
Yes, there is TV, and if possible the channels will be listed.
Internet is available and updates on if it is free or not will be posted.12. I don't want to pay for food, can I pay less?
Nope. This is designed to be a "yes or no" type of plan.
Organizing is easiest when there are fewer options.13. Do I have to stay in the same place with the group?
Nope. You can book your own hotel in the area and join us that way.14. I want to go for a full week... since it's booked, can I do that?
It's not clear, but probably. More details to follow.
For now this is a 3 day weekend, as the organizer booking the space will leave on Monday.15. What was Elodie's original idea on meetup? "Going skiing and snowboarding around February - March for one weekend.
We can either go to Pennylvania, Virginia or West Virginia, since that is not that far.
This one I think is the best, even if it's 5 hours driving: http://www.skitown.com/resortguide/overview.cfm/wv06/SnowshoeMountain
and this is the website I found:
http://www.skitown.com/ "16. Why aren't there any more FAQs?
Umm.... ask a question below.
