Learn to Plant, Prune & Propagate Roses

The Altadena Community Garden and Pasadena Learning Gardens offer a free workshop, next Saturday February 2nd 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Altadena Community Garden. Learn from Master Gardener Mark Rice and local Rose expert Elvira Smith in the hands-on workshop.

Bring gloves and clippers and if you want to start some roses from clippings bring a couple 1, or better 5 gallon plant containers filled with garden soil.

Please consider helping: We hope this is the beginning of a community of Rose experts who will transform the toil of winter pruning into learning opportunities across our community. If you're a knowledgeable rose person and want to get involved please contact [masked] or[masked] and show up at 10:30.

Great hands on and plenty of theory. Questions answered with great knowledge.

The first house I bought in Southern California was the home of the famous educator Jaime Escalante and there were a bunch of citrus trees in the back, and some of the most beautiful roses in front - about 10 and each was stunning. So now I mostly do edibles but roses will always have a special place for me...
