Jones Peak & Orchard Camp - 9miles & 2800ft gain

Come join us for a hike up to Jones Peak, the imposing mount right above Sierra Madre.  I am sure many of you have wondered about "the mount" when you drive on the I-210 and looked up at mount with a trail right above Sierra Madre.  We will then head down to the Crossover Trail and intersect with Mt. Wilson Trail.  We will turn left here and hike to Orchard Camp to visit the 1,500 yrs old oak tree.  After some rest, we will hike down Mt. Wilson Trail to Sierra Madre, then walk about 3/4 miles along the street to get back to our cars.

View from the top of Jones Peak looking down on Sierra Madra.

Parking: The parking lot and along the street is free.  No need for adventure pass.

Note: On the way back down, if the whole group is up to it, I can lead and take a little detour through the original Mt. Wilson trail cutting through to First Water.

Recommendation:
- Good traction trail shoes
- Water: 2 liters
- Lightweight layers, rain/wind breaker jacket (Check weather forecast)
- Lunch & snacks
- Sunscreen, hat, sunglasses
- Trekking Poles
- Small camera/cell phone

I'm so sorry for the no-show today. I had to replace, last-minute, a security agent last night down in Costa Mesa. Didn't get off til 2AM and got home at 3. It won't happen again. Hope everyone had a blast.

Sing, you planning to carry enough water for everyone also? And if there is any spare water, you are going to make a lake out of it? :)
