I'm a cold weather transplant to this sunny west coast. I grew up playing ice hockey (yes was once an assistant captain of my high school team) on a pond in the frozen winters and also have lived in Sweden, where in the winter time night time can be 23 hours of the day and temperatures are like -30 degrees below freezing. I like SoCal weather, but I'm really missing the cold...By living in Sweden I also developed a fond affinity for Scandanavian girls, but that's another story in itself...you can ask me more about this later if you wish...LOL (gosh I miss Sweden). Oh yeah where I was brought up was mostly African-American and hispanic (Puerto-Rican). I speak Spanish and Swedish better than any asian language. (Anyone want to help me with Mandarin lol)
Currently I live/work in Orange County, specifically Westminster. If I get a full time job in Cali, I guess I'll stay in SoCal but I'm not sure where.
I work in renewable energy, particularly solar energy doing engineering and business development. I'm an energy enthusiast and would love to meet other people with startup/entrepreneurial minds. However, solar is tough because China is heavily subsidizing their manufacturing and since energy as a commodity often only cares about cheapest price of productions, things like dirty coal or cheap manufacturing from China may outshine a lot of other great things out there. However, it's not to lose hope as thousands of great ideas are being invented in green-tech as we speak. I also breakdance and am down to do street performances if people wanna get together and do some street hitting.
Hej hej, My name is Nick and I grew up on the east coast and am from Connecticut and most recently lived in Sweden. Now I'm in the SoCal area on intern duty and just looking to meet new people. Hope this place does the trick.
Seems like a fun group.
