WWII Weekend at the Mid Atlantic Air Museum

Enter a photography-rich environment as you step back in time and relive the defining moment of “The Greatest Generation.” In addition to the gathering of photogenic period warbirds, many of which will fly in the airshow, you will be fully immersed in more than 1,700 WWII military and civilian re-enactors and dozens of combat and support units, representing many nations.

See up to 200 military vehicles, from motorcycles to Jeeps to tanks - the biggest gathering in the country. Experience battles and skirmishes between the French Resistance, Allied, and German troops around a battle-scarred French Village.

Stroll around the sprawling encampments and experience what life was like for the "G.I. Joe's", in the field. You can visit the Pacific and European theaters, U.S. Navy, Marine, and Army encampments. British Commonwealth forces, German Wehrmacht and Luftwaffe camps, and more.

I was thrilled to see the TBM Avenger flying as my father flew in this aircraft as radio man & gunner.

I thought it was great! I don't think I ever saw that many war birds all together - and many of them still flying.

Thanks very much Ferd, I only shot 164 images - easy load into Lightroom.

Now I know the capacity of a card. My new G-RAID with Thunderbolt loaded the files in a tiny fraction of the time my old Drobo needed.

Thanks to everyone who came out today. I know there were more there than I ran into. Next time I'll make better plans to meet up. I forgot to mention the delays to figure into your travel if you weren't aware of the bus system that brings you to the entrance from the parking lots. A slight tactical error on my part. We'll learn from it for next year.

I didn't get there until after 0930 and I never ran into anyone. This was my first time and it was amazing. I'm waiting for 1700 pictures to load into LR.

Look for me at the entrance. I'll hang around for 15-20 minutes before going in. I'll have a piece of red ribbon on the shoulder strap and hand out more to members so we can identify each opther inside. If you see someone with a piece red ribbon tied around their strap...say hi! The weather is looking promising. We'll see what we get.

By the ticket line that is. Just look for the bald guy and his 5 year old boy. I'm not hard to spot.

Sorry this work "kick off" is becoming a major commitment tomorrow. Need to cancel.

Looks like the "spoiler gremlins" are at it again ... business interferes with pleasure.

The weather is looking slightly better as of today than it did a few days ago. Right now there's a chance of showers through the AM and then it shows ok for teh afternoon. We'll see how it pans out. I'll be there either way.
