Clues are up here:
We're combining two of our favorite events from the past into one end-of-the-summer celebration! Not only will we have a great pot luck BBQ for everyone, we'll be reviewing shots from our Scavenger Hunt on a giant outdoor screen (weather permitting of course!)
Members of the Lancaster County Photography Meetup Group and their spouses and/or significant others are invited to a Summer Par-T-Que in West Hempfield Township! That's right, if you've ever dreamed of partying in Ironville, NOW IS YOUR CHANCE!
Join us for a night of food, fun and photography. We just want everyone to come out, have a good time, get together and celebrate a great summer of photography and friendship! And join us as we view the results of the Scavenger Hunt on a big inflatable screen in the great outdoors, so bring your lawn chairs and blankets for maximum viewing comfort!
Please note although we want as many people to participate in the Scavenger Hunt as possible, you do not need to participate in that event to come to the party and enjoy!
Sounds great! What can I bring?
If everyone could bring a party-friendly food, heavy h'orderve, or libation to share with the rest of the attendees that would be great. Please let us know on the RSVP what you plan to bring so we can adjust the food/beverage levels accordingly.
If your spouse or significant other is not a member, mark them as a +1 on your RSVP. If you have any other questions about the party, just let me know. I hope everyone can make it!

The Long Form - Directions for each of the parts of this event.
Part 1 Explained
Everyone knows what a scavenger hunt is, but what’s a photo scavenger hunt? A scavenger hunt depends upon finding and retrieving things from a given list. Whoever accumulates the most things on the list wins.
The difference with a photo scavenger hunt is that we only take away images of the things on the list. But it goes much deeper than that. Can you imagine retrieving a smile in an old-fashioned scavenger hunt? Well, in a photo scavenger hunt, you can. Emotions, gestures, suggestions, hints, fantasies, and events are all fair game.
On the date of the Photo Scavenger Hunt we will publish the list of clues to capture at 7:30 AM. The clues will be made available at our Meetup website in the Files section. They’ll be available in PDF format. You will have until 5:00 pm to accomplish this task by shooting anywhere at all to fill the list of clues with your interpretations. Your creativity is tested and exercised to the limit in this event. Kudos are gained by providing the most innovative solution to the clue.
Here’s an example (not found on the clue list you will be given): “Dinosaur” Dinosaurs were extinct 65-70 million years ago. Where would you find a dinosaur to photograph today? You might look for a gas-guzzler car, enhanced by a smoking (fire-breathing?) tail pipe. Or you might head to the toy store, plenty of dinosaurs there. How about a museum display? I think you get the idea.
The list of clues that you will receive is geared to adults. This is because we want you to think. Exercise the little gray cells. There is nothing inappropriate for kids but much will fly over their heads, I am afraid. Then again, I may be surprised, as I often am.
Part 2 Explained
Here’s exactly how part 2 works:
When you are finished shooting your clues, plug your memory card into your computer, navigate to your memory card and make a directory on that card, name it with “your name”.
Assume you shot 17 images of a clue named “corn”.
Select the one perfect “corn” image and copy it to the directory with “your name” on it. Change the file name from “_MG_2080.jpg” (or whatever default name scheme you have selected) to “corn.jpg”.
Bring your memory card to the meeting and drop it into the provided envelope and write your name on it. That’s it.
Part 3 Explained
We will meet at the BBQ to enjoy each others company and to share our results. We will distribute an envelope to each participant for your memory card. Write your name on the envelope and enclose the media card. Please be prepared for a delay while we enter your results into the computer for display.
There are no prizes, just the adulation of the crowd. Let me know prior to the event if you have any questions about how this is going to work, and I hope to see you there!
