The Power of Dodging & Burning/Color grading in Photoshop | Assignment: All Wet

Presenter: Benoît Barbé

Some of the most important things you can do to an image are controlling the contrast and color.  Mastery over these elements can lead to photos that really POP!

Benoît will go over 3-4 different dodging and burning techniques in Photoshop. From general D/B to more precise and more controlled techniques.

He will also explain and demonstrate some color grading techniques, showing how to blend those changes with your photo.

Assignment: All Wet

A few reminders about some of the basic rules of the assignment:

• Members may submit 2 photos.

• Photos should be emailed to us the Wednesday prior to the Thursday meeting.

Benoit did an awesome job with his presentation. His deep knowledge was tailored to the many levels of expertise in the audience.

And the download for the .atn worked great!

Benoit, great job on a subject that anyone without firsthand knowledge/experience of Photoshop will find intimidating. I think many in the room were inspired to use your techniques. Your keyboard shortcuts were most appreciated as well as the card to remind after you were finished. It is so hard to hear as much as you had to offer and immediately commit to memory for future use.

I learned a lot. Never thought of using curves for dodging and burning. Thanks

This was my first exposure (no pun intended) to Photoshop and found the presentation very interesting. I got some good advice for other programs for newbies, such as myself, that may be less daunting/expensive than Photoshop. Good stuff!
