Race Street Criterium

Here is an impromptu Father's Day meetup for anyone looking for something a bit different to do.

The Race Avenue Criterium is a bicycle race that takes place Sunday June 15 on Race Avenue and the surrounding streets adjacent to Buchanan Park and the F&M Campus.  Racing starts at 8AM and is expected to continue most of the afternoon.  Several of the races will determine the PA State Championships.

Bicycle racing is fast and furious.  With average speeds of 25 MPH the riders experience all sorts of pain to hang on as they navigate the four corners of the course.

This is a great opportunity to spend a few hours honing your sports and people photography skills.

I'll be there between 11:30 and 12:00, but since it goes all day feel free to stop by whenever you have the time.  There is some food at the event and Iron Hill is down the street if you get really thirsty.

Street parking is available but keep in mind that some streets in the vacinity will be closed.  You can also park in the lots on Harrisburg Ave.

Well, I didn't sign up in advance but I was there. Truth to tell, I live inside the race course so showing up was not all that difficult! In any case I hope you enjoy the photos I've posted.
