Lingo - Language Exchange @ UIT

Language Connection is pleased to announce a new place for our Chinese/English, Korean/English and Japanes/English language exchanges this year - "The Couch". This amazing venue, situated at the International Student Centre, aims to provide a safe space at night time for international students studying in Melbourne to socialise, relax, rest, study, and seek information and assistance.

We also have a Facebook Page, which includes information and updates about all the events.

There are a lot of people of all ages in Melbourne who are non-native speakers who would like to meet native speakers of English. It can be really difficult to find local friends especially if the cultures are very different. At the same time many local students and workers want to improve and learn Mandarin, Korean or Japanese. Maybe they have visited those places, are studying the language now or are just interested to start learning. Its very difficult for these two groups to meet, but at this language exchange everyone is there for the same reason - to improve their language skills.

The space is quite large and will fit around 40 people! However we still recommend you RSVP for this event to make our jobs a little easier.

When: Every Thursday, 6:00 -8:00pm

Where: The Couch, 69 Bourke St, Melbourne - between Exhibition St and Spring St and it's a five minute walk from Parliament Station. Look for the big iron door.

Entry: $5

What you get: A great opportunity to make new friends and practice your foreign language. Dinner and coffee and tea will also be provided.

Atmosphere: Friendly, welcoming, informal.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
