You all received the note from Kate, Brian's assistant about his death on Sunday. What a terrible shock to us all.
Brian left us a lasting gesture of his generosity to the group on Sunday afternoon when he sent out the message to all of us at 11:45 regarding a reminder about the Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk in Old Town. My wife and I attended this and looked for Brian. I know how much he likes shooting in Old Town and urban shooting in general. I thought it quite odd he wasn't there. Little did we know just how awful the events of the afternoon transpired while we were out having fun taking photos of Old Town. It was pretty disturbing in hindsight.
The group will of course carry on. Brian wouldn't have wanted it to be any other way. He and I have worked closely in creating events and leading meetings over the last few months. I am prepared to take over leadership. I am certainly open to working with anyone else to help organize the group and keep events coming. I have been a lot of experience leading groups like this.
We are going to miss Brian and his deep knowledge of legacy equipment and iPhones, his passion for urban and street shooting, and his overall commitment to the visual message. Not to forget his commitment to his cats and of course his aging mother. I enjoyed working with him in many ways.
The meetings will continue at the same time and place that we have always had.
One of the members suggested that we do a more formal urban walk before the meeting while there is some daylight still. 5-6:30 seems appropriate. Let me know if you can make something like this and we will have the first Annual Brian Knoblock Memorial Photowalk.
Please remember that Kate is asking for photos of Brian at the meetups. Send them to her at [address removed]
Feel free to share your ideas on this. And please let me know if you can make the photowalk before the next meeting.
Please Note: If you hit "REPLY", your message will be sent to everyone on this mailing list ([address removed])
