I am the developer of a large scale web application, Active Agenda, together with my partner and subject matter expert. He can design tables, forms, screens, charts and reports in an XML definition format, and my command-line script builds the database tables and necessary PHP files. This way, data structure changes are easy to implement (just change the XML definition), and customizations for each client are easy to implement with "delta" add-on XML definitions that descripe whatever is added for that client. We work with Mercurial source control, and host our sites on CentOS Linux (virtual) servers.
I call myself a Web application developer. I have been interfacing with database servers for many years, and am getting more and more into front-end engineering using primarily YUI. My graphic designs are plain and simple; I'm definitely not a graphic designer.
Interested in many things that are new in PHP. Running PHP with PHP-FPM with APC on e.g. nginx works awesomely great compared to Apache with mod_php (maybe I'm just behind the curve not having made that switch until recently).
If something I know or do is interesting enough for a presentation, I could put one together some day.
Hi, I'm a longtime PHP/MySQL developer, founding partner and developer of Active Agenda, a Risk Management application. Recently relocated to the LA area.
