What: "Humane 101" Seminar (by Humane Society of the United States)

When: July 16,[masked]:00 PM

Vintage Senior Center
401 N. Highland Ave.
Pittsburgh, PA 15206

The Humane Society of the United States is sponsoring a free "Humane 101" meeting in Pittsburgh on Thursday, July 16, 2009. Participants will learn how to make a tremendous difference for animals in Pennsylvania.

If you plan to attend, please RSVP to the Humane Society of the United States using this link, as well as RSVP'ing to our group by clicking "yes" above this description.

This presentation will energize individuals who share a common concern for the well-being of animals with the tools to help pass new laws to protect animals. There is no shortage of animal lovers, but we are not organized enough. These meetings will help us all get active and allow us to make our collective voice heard from Harrisburg to Washington, D.C.

We will discuss basic techniques to encourage policy changes for citizen activists and provide information regarding some of the priority animal issues in Pennsylvania. Please take time to attend this meeting to support the ongoing efforts to protect the animals of Pennsylvania and to meet and network with other advocates for animals.

As an added bonus, the seminar will equip you with the skills necessary to campaign for animals at the local level. Topics covered will include composing effective materials for local decision-makers and media outlets, organizing your friends and acquaintances behind one goal, and overall campaign strategic planning.

The meeting will feature special guest speaker former State Senator Roy Afflerbach.

The event is free of charge, but an RSVP is requested to attend to ensure adequate space.
