Join us on July 9th for our first meetup the new schedule, the second Thursday of every month. This month we are meeting at Don Cuco's Mexican Restaurant in Glendale. They have a room for us to use, excellent food, and a BAR! Located at: 214 N Brand Blvd Glendale, CA. i-Hire will sponsor some finger foods. (This will be a no-host bar event - but I'll see if I can get some sponsors to buy a couple rounds.)

Tentative schedule:

7:00-7:30 Meet & Greet
7:30-9:00 Presentations
9:00-10:00 Open

First Presentation: "Successful Pair Programming Remotely" by Oren Golan.
Oren is going to show how he and a fellow programmer paired up to code together and give a review of the tools that allowed them to be successful.

Oren will include information on:
Why we want to be able to do this.
How to use tools such as SSH, Screen, Vim, and Skype
How to install and configure all the tools on a server and clients.
Why this was a success and the benefits they gained.

Second Presentation: by Giles Bowkett
Giles had to do some programming for video uploading so he's going to present on some cool tools that they used to improve the process.

Third Presentation: "Rave" by Jason Rush
Rave is a Ruby framework for building robot applications to participate in Google Wave conversations (See http://github.com/dim... ).

    •  We had some really great presentations this time. The venue was a little noisy, but it was good to have drinks and food available.

Great meetup. I had a great time, met a lot of new people and made new friends :)
    •  Very nice presentations.
    •  Small meeting in a new location. It was a little loud (from the bar and restaurant) but the presentations were excellent and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves except Lars (just kidding). Jason Rush announced that he is moving to Colorado. Personally, I'm sad to see him go but I wish him and his family best wishes in their new locale. Thanks to Oren, Giles, and Jason for their excellent presentations and thanks to Alf for helping to put this meeting on. JR
