Intro to Metaprogramming by Judson Lester

One of the good parts about Ruby is metaprogramming: building programs at runtime. It can be daunting to get started though. We'll talk about parts of the core library that make it possible and two language features that are essential and badly understood: closures and metaclasses.

Judson has been working with Ruby for close to 10 years, and is part of Logical Reality Design, a Rails shop out of Altadena.

jcov by Doug McInnes

Kronk — HTTP consumption for humans and computers by Jeremie Castagna

If you've had to work on a Service application for any amount of time, you probably know how tedious it can be to pinpoint a single data point in a response, or to check for what's different between two environments. Kronk lets you do this very easily, as well as log replays, benchmarking, data transformation, and more.

Senior Software Engineer for AT&T Interactive, my work mostly consists of high availability services and APIs. I love writing Ruby and open source software that helps people.

Great presenters. Started perfectly within enough time for people to show up and eat mingle, or if running late or in traffic, come in and sit down without missing anything.

The discussion covered areas I was interested in. I wasn't able to completely follow the discussion on meta programming, but it has motivated me to look into the subject.

Would have liked talks more about Rails. More beginner/medium Rails discussion would be good. More talks about web development. More time to socialize. Maybe have at least 1 talk that pertains more to Rails beginners.

Great talks from Jeremie Castagna, Doug McInness, and Judson Lester. Speakers all rocked it. Thanks to Alf Mikula for his hard work.
