Introduction to Ruby on Rails

Have you been meaning to learn to build web sites with Ruby on Rails? Now is the time to get going. The LA Ruby Study Group will be reading Agile Web Development With Rails (4th edition).

Please make sure you are using the 4th edition of the book. Earlier editions will not work. If you don't already have a copy, I recommend you purchase the ebook from the Pragmatic Programmers site so you get the version recently updated for Rails 3.2:

This week we covered chapter 7 - validations. Next week we'll work on Chapters 8 and perhaps 9.

The group will move at whatever pace seems appropriate to the people who show up. But given that we covered 2 chapters last week (5&6), I would guess that we'll cover chapters 7 & 8 this week. That means we'll probably start chapter 9 on May 23rd. Discussion - often including what chapters we'll be reading - can be found on our Google Groups list: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/laruby-books

Hello Cynthia I wanted to echo Brad's comment. I have the book, read a good amount of the book but a project has kept me from joining this week and last week and extremely interested in this study group) so I was hoping what chapters should be covered to prepare for the next Ruby study group? Thanks
