Ruby Study Group

Last week we wrapped up building our storefront app from Agile Web Development with Rails. This week there will be some time for questions and observations about what we learned from AWDWR. The rest of the meeting will be devoted to choosing our next book.

As usual we will try to reach a consensus about what to read next. If there is no consensus, we'll go with a straight vote of the people present at the meeting. Please bring copies of any books you want to propose - or at least have a way to access the table of contents and some sample content. If you would like to start your lobbying before the meeting, feel free to do so on our our Google group:!forum/laruby-books

You may also use the Google group to keep up with the study group's other activities. Some of us are planning to work on our RideBum app at this weekend's Hackathon. And we are also planning weekend gatherings to work on the homework for Coursera's SaaS class which starts Friday July 13th.

Very cordial group. Their knowledge base was way above my pay level. Even though the meeting was dominated by discussion of what to do, I was swimming in very deep code water. Still they invited me back to see if I could gleam some knowledge.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
