What do you hope to get out of becoming a member of the Ruby/Rails Meetup Group?

I've started to use jRuby in the context of the webapps at my currenty (soon to be ex-) employer, and with Hadoop Hbase. I feel like I should learn enough to more fully utilize what I've learned already. I want to be Ruby-fluent and Rails-fluent enough to feel like I can tackled a modest project from scratch. (Sort of like learning enough foreign language to be able to spend a summer abroad.)

Is there anything that you would like to do a presentation on at a Meetup someday?

Not now. But if I ever get around to embedding Ruby onto a SBC, I'll show it off! :)

Introduction

I'm a computer engineer that has spanned a wide variety - from hardware design to low-level programming, to web-based applications deployed on the cloud. I'm about to go "in betwen jobs".
