Dating with Models-- A How to Guide for Programmers and Architects

Tuesday June 18 @ eHarmony, Inc:


eHarmony was one of the earliest, fastest growing and still one of the largest online dating sites.  This talk will present a brief overview of of the various architectures spanning the last 13 years, followed by an in depth analysis of the current hybrid SOA + Hadoop based architecture. Machine learned dynamic code generation scala models, JMS and REST based services, spring wired Hadoop jobs and various back end processes all producing and consuming a protocol buffer based data model. The applied data science presentation will cover the machine learning side of things.

Crack is a statically typed language with a C-like taking inspiration from C/C++, Java, C# as well as Python Ruby and others. It is designed to be convenient to use as a scripting language while at the same time having the speed and expressive power of a compiled multi-paradigm language. It is built on the foundation of the LLVM compiler project and benefits from its improving compiler optimization performance. This talk will introduce the language from a user perspective in developing web applications.
