Hey Charlotte Salsa Maniacs,
The summer is officially here, and we are launching our Charlotte Salsa Maniacs Caravan, where we visit some of Charlotte's hotest dance spots. We are starting at one of our favorite places...A Piece of Havana. We have gone there in years past, sometimes going every Friday, the owner, Berquis is a Cuban, and she knows how to put a place together. The food is wonderful, and from 7 pm. to 10 pm. she has one of Charlotte's best Latin Jazz Afro Cuban bands playing...led by Tommy and Luis of Puerto Rico. They are often joined by other fabulous musicians. I have hired them to play for the latin nights we did at RiRa's , and they were joined by others to as the featured band at the recent Azucar festival.
So come enjoy the band and the food, and that is just the beginning. After the band shuts down at 10 pm. The DJ comes on until 2, and he plays the Latin music we love. Because so many of us also love Tango, he will be playing some Tango too. What a way to start off the summer.
You can take Tyron all the way south to get to Piece of Havana, or you can take I-77 South exit at the Carowinds exchange. Then turn right and drive about a mile and half, until you reach Tryon, then take a left on Tryon, and get in your right lane. The first plaza of stores on your right ...turn in and you will see the Fitness center in front of you, and to your left... at the end of the row of business... you will see "A Piece of Havana."
We will be there at 9, but if you get there earlier let Berquis know, you are with us. We have about 10-15 people who are already committed to coming, and you don't need a partner. All we need is you. So come on.
Before the summer is over, we will hit lots of spots, and we will be back at a Piece of Havana again. Next week for all our new comers (we have over 20 new members...welcome), we will familiarize you with the dance instructors in the region, the venues to dance, and of course... Tales from the Dance floor.
Fellas, bring a change of shirts, cause you are going to sweat. You hear me? Ladies, we are looking forward to giving you all a night to remember.
See you on the dance floor,
The Cat in the Hat.
