We get up in the morning because…

we believe neighborhoods should promote healthy lifestyles, inspire, educate, foster innovation, creativity, love, peace and happiness.

Neighborhoods are a reflection of who we are, how we live and what we value as a community. All of us belong to one or more communities and we want everyone to communicate their values, inspire each other and actively participate in developing places that rejuvenate our lives.

Neighborhoods are canvases on which we live our lives. Together, we can paint our neighborhoods to become everything we expect.

Mission

Livable Communities Hawaii promotes good planning in Hawaii through research, analysis, public education, outreach and advocacy. Our mission is to serve as a resource for building communities which support a healthy and sustainable lifestyle. We support the evolution of neighborhoods into places where residents can play, study, work, live, and age in-place from cradle to grave.

Vision

We hope to enhance the quality of life for Hawaii residents by encouraging good regional planning and policies from the government and empowering Hawaii’s keiki and kama’aina with knowledge, skills and support so that they may actively participate in creating a neighborhood they love to live in. We aim for all neighborhoods to provide convenience and opportunities for all ages while encouraging healthy lifestyles, innovation, interaction, participation and self-reliance.
