Build, measure, learn. Actionable metrics vs. vanity metrics. Cohort analysis. Sorry, I may be simple, but can you speak English please?
I get the principle. We want to build products people love. We want to find a repeatable and scalable way to reach customers and make money. And metrics can help us measure if we are on the right track to achieve that. You can also talk to customers (and you should), but metrics are cool as you measure what customer do, not what they say.
I get that. But how do I get started? This will be the topic of discussion during our next Lean Startup Circle.
Here's the proposal for the agenda:
- 18:30 Food
- 19:00 Presentation / discussion on metrics, schmetrics (featuring our own expert Gilbert West!)
- 19:45 Break
- 20:00 2 startup cases
- 21:00 Drink
Startup cases: we need 2 volunteers. The idea is the following:
- 3m Startup presents their business model, and asks a question
- 15m Break down in groups, discussion on the case
- 10m Each group gets 2 minutes to present results from their discussion
