Walk in the Peak District

A gentle 6.5 mile walk from Marsden in the Peak District, the walk has a steep ascent up to Standedge, after a picnic with views over the Pennines we descend slowly back towards Marsden.

I suggest we will meet in Marsden station at 9.45am. Suggested train is:

09:08 Leeds [LDS] Platform 16A to 09:42 Marsden Platform 3

If you are going by train aim to be at Leeds train station at 8.45 to buy a ticket and we can meet on the train.

This walk will go ahead irrespective of the weather so please bring:

walking boots

flask of drink

water proofs/suntan lotion (depending on the weather)

packed lunch

Some climbing of ladder styles may be involved but the pace will be amiable around the 6.5 miles, due to the ascent, you will need to be in a good state of health to undertake the walk. If people want we can stop in Marsden after the walk at a local pub as the trains back to Leeds are quite regular. Trains back are at: 15.59, 16.59, 17.29, 17.59. I will aim to get everyone back for the 15.59 but as always this will depend on the speed of the group so no guarentees. Anyone who absolutely must make a specifc time back should tell me before the walk starts and I will see what I can do.

This walk is led by volunteers, not professionals, so you take your own risk being on the walk. Any questions or problems on the day please phone John on[masked]

Just to let you know I don't expect the conditions to be too bad today. Part of the walk is on a solid canal path, road and the penine way which are very good paths. The weather forecast has also improved to indicate just one shower this morning. It is essential you come with proper walking boots. http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2642992

Hi Nazeem,, as per the details on the event: 9.45 from Marsden station. Search for a group of French speaking people on, or mear, the platform. If you are coming, can you please reply yes on the invite? We need to know how many people to expect / wait for. Sophie.
