Mosser Road, Trexlertown, PA
To the uninitiated, group rides can be intimidating. But if you want to make some friends, sharpen your riding skills, and get a real workout, this ride always starting at the Rodale Cycling and Fitness Park, in Trexlertown, is right for you. Take the plunge!
Made for the beginner road cyclist (road bike required), or solo cyclist, who wants to learn about the technical skills, rules, and etiquette of road riding as a group member. Practice and perfect the rotating paceline, drafting, sustainable cadence, hand signaling, and more. The average speed will vary between 11-13 MPH average (C Pace, sustainable flat road speed of 16mph). NOTE: This weekly ride is about learning to work and stay together as a group on the road. It's not about pedaling as fast as you can in front of everyone else.
Road courses are a mixture of flat, rolling, and moderate hill climbing and will vary weekly, as will the distance. It’s Genesis policy not to drop any rider – ever. Plenty of rest stops are built into every course for resting and regroupings – riders stay together working as a group. Included is a traditional Genesis snack.
Here are a a few courses we'll be riding. You can download the course onto a GPS computer if you have one, or just view the routing. Make sure you reference the grade and not the shape of the graph when it comes to hills. (2-4% beginner, 5-7% normal, 8-10% challenge, 10 and above advanced). We'll stay mostly 2-7% grade.
