Lighting Workshop - Part 1: Basic Lighting

This is part 1 of a three part series on lighting and is geared toward the novice photographer as well as a refresher for the intermediate photographer. Lighting is the most important element in good photography and the most overlooked by new photographers.

This workshop will cover the basics of lighting for any type of photography and what it takes to create photos that get noticed. You don't need an expensive camera or even expensive lighting equipment to get great photos, but you do need to know how to work with the light that is available, whether you are indoors or outdoors. We'll demonstrate ways to use light to your advantage without emptying your wallet. This is a hands-on course so bring your camera.

Daniel Cossack is a professional photographer and has instructed several workshops on lighting and Adobe LightRoom workflow for the city of Irvine and at iWink Studios. He is also Vice President of Public Relations for the new Lensmasters Toastmasters club and District Public Relations officer for the Founder's District.

This workshop is free to paid members of Lensmasters or $30 for non-members.

I learded some fun, new stuff, and we got to practice what we learned. Plus,
Dan pushed us to remember the basics: "Why are you shooting THIS picture?"

    See you there on 2/28.

Wish I could attend but I have club officer makeup that evening. Have fun. Looks like a very valuable workshop.
