The December 2013 Lexington Philosophy Forum Meeting

The topic of discussion will be:

Heuristics and Biases

A segue from last month's discussion, as Hume anticipated many ideas of current cognitive science and psychology.

Are we rational actors or do we mainly use quick-and-dirty rules of thumb to make decisions?

Some questions to ponder:

1. Are heuristics "rational"?

2. Are induction and Ockham's Razor heuristics?

3. Are heuristics innate or learned?

I can't believe I have to miss this discussion. Unfortunately, I have to work this evening, I'm certain it'll be a wonderful topic.
