Lexington Hiking Meetup to Merge with Hikers of the Bluegrass

For several years we have been operating the Lexington Hiking Meetup (LHM) and the Hikers of the Bluegrass (HOB) as a single hiking group. Although LHM has always had the larger membership we have considered HOB to be the primary group (fairly unique in Meetup everyone in that group has attended at least one hiking event; a large percentage of LHM have not yet hiked with us).

On April 1, 2013 the Lexington Hiking Meetup (LHM) will merge with the Hikers of the Bluegrass (HOB) into a single hiking group.

Unfortunately Meetup.com doesn't have a mechanism for doing a true merge; they do not have any way to import the members from one group to another.

Those who are members of both groups do not have to do anything.  Those who are members of LHM will be able to join HOB starting immediately; membership will become open and will not require approval.

The LHM be closed to any new members effective immediately. At some point after April 1 the members will be deleted and group disbanded. All photos posted on the LHM site have been downloaded and saved and will eventually be re-posted on the HOB site.

We apologize ahead of time for the inconvenience. We hope the new arrangement will be less confusing for folks.
