PRIDE LONDON 2013 PARADE

Problems finding us? My mobile: 07785960293. Riccy x

UPDATE: We have now been given more specific details for the march and our position in it:

Walking groups have been asked to assemble on Baker Street between 11.00 and 12.30, before starting the march at 13.00.

Galha is Official Walking Group C16, in Section 3 - 'The Ceremony'.

Section 3 begins at bus stop J on Baker Street, and runs back to Blandford Street. Look out for the Galha banner.

We look forward to seeing you all there on Saturday!

Equality in all of society's institutions. The right to live and love in peace. The assertion of a morality based on human rights and not ancient texts. These are fundamental humanist values. And this year the UK has won a key battle in entrenching these values in our society. No matter what happens next, the June 4th vote by Peers to support the same-sex marriage bill is a triumph for humanist values.

Pride in London is Sat 29th June 2013 and Galha LGBT Humanists (the lesbian, gay, bi and trans section of the BHA) are marching in the parade. We want you to join us, whatever your orientation.

Galha_Pride_button_revA

Join Galha LGBT Humanists as we march in celebration. Bring pink jacks/flags, whistles and your outrageous selves to this family-friendly event. We'll provide you with handfuls of postcards, stickers and leaflets (Galha and Humanist Celebrant ones) to hand out. Everyone is welcome.

The theme of the 2013 parade is 'Love and Marriage'. We're in 'the ceremony' section of the parade and will be particularly promoting equal marriage and humanist weddings. It's a big year for both these campaigns.

RSVP 'Yes' now and come along for a great afternoon

Or simply join us on the day. If you haven't been to a Pride before, it's all pretty straightforward (and we're happy to answer questions). We assemble late morning on Baker St. Stewards will be on hand to guide you to us. The parade starts around 1pm and follows a walking route through central London to arrive in Trafalgar Square a little later (more here). You're then free to enjoy the festivities, or chat to people, handing out more literature in the square.

See you there!

Love,

Galha LGBT Humanists

P.S. Check out the official video of our Flashmob in Trafalgar Square, for IDAHO 2013 in collaboration with Pride in London.

Joseph what a derogatory statement to make bring my own friends.

    July 2, 2013

    • Joseph T.

Hi Jane. Oops. It certainly wasn't intended that way. Just an attempt to grow our numbers next year. One that seems to have come across entirely the wrong way. I do apologise. J.

What a great day! Thanks, everyone. Erin, you'll just have to bring some friends next year!

Sorry everyone. A dear friend has just had emergency heart surgery today so I'm driving to Birmingham to see him. Won't be able to make Pride after all. I'll be thinking of you all.

    Hi folks,

Long shot here, but anyways! Do you have any place in mind where the group will go after Pride? I cannot come to the parade, as I`m searching for flat shares and doing viewings at this time. But around 4-5 pm, should be free and in the center and would like to enjoy the festive atmosphere together with other people. If you have any ideas, drop me a line! Thanks!

    Olga

    • Adam K.

Olga, my exp is that by the time you've agreed to meet someone in a certain place, they've moved on by the time you get there due to the crowds! Very difficult to arrange with lack of mobile coverage and crowd control etc. But head along anyway, you'll find people :)

      June 28, 2013

  • Sanch

Might come or go with another group!

    June 26, 2013

    • Adam K.

They won't be as good as us. Unless they have a bus. Then go with them.

      June 28, 2013

  • Adam K.

37 attendees so far. Great! But we might need more t-shirts :) Earlier you arrive the more chance you have of bagging one - not that you get to keep it :)

keep one for me, i will be later but i am a pride steward

Dear All - have been a Meet Up member for a while, but have not attended a Meet Up event before (although have attended galha events independently previously) - so hope OK to come along on Saturday and join you guys for the march? Hopefully see you on Saturday - Geof.

I will be at the Pride parade, of course, but with a crowd of friends doing our own thing as usual. I'll give you a wave and a cheer when I see you!

I WANT TO ATTEND IT AS WELL BECAUSE I SUPPORT IT,FREE MARRIAGE FOR EVERY ONE

  • Joseph T.

Hi Adam et al. Are we going to do something spectacular this year? I had the idea last year that we could all go as a school of Darwin fish, but I'm sure there are better ideas. In any case, I think we should work to gain more visibility this year.

    June 6, 2013

    • Hoogendoorn W.

with a banner : "some fish are gay.... get over it" ?

      1 · June 13, 2013

    • Elizabeth D.

I'll be there as a Humanist Celebrant, perhaps we could have a novel way of depicting brides & brides, grooms & grooms? I'm stuck for unconventional portrayals of love & marriage myself.

is there some organisation going on between Galha and the LBA (because both have lots of BHA members)

    June 17, 2013

    • Baptiste B.

LBA and CLHG are joining GALHA. We are not registering separately. Can't wait for it!

      1 · June 20, 2013

    • Joseph T.

      Fantastic! I can't wait either!!

      1 · June 20, 2013

  • Joseph T.

How about a big banner saying "My Morality is based on Reality"?

    June 10, 2013

    • Richard U.

Hi Joseph. The whole parade has a theme of 'Love and Marriage' this year. Galha has been placed in the 'Ceremony' section. Our plan at the moment is to have several of the BHA Humanist Celebrants marching with us and to be handing out Humanist Marriage literature. We've also ordered a job load of shiny new Galha T-Shirts...!

      June 12, 2013

    • Joseph T.

Hi Richard. I did not know there was a "Ceremony" section! It will be good to have things to hand out - it will give us a bit of a focus. I still want us to be fabulous and spectacular, but we can work on that for future years (I hope??).

      June 12, 2013

  • Peter

I also want to ask if I may please bring someone with me?

    June 7, 2013

    • Richard U.

Yes, of course - the more the merrier!

      June 12, 2013

  • Jodie

I think I'm going to be straddling a few groups this year...

    1 · June 12, 2013

  • Peter

I've never done pride before. How does it all work? Do I just turn up and walk with you? Do I need to buy any tickets? Hope you can help and thanks.

    June 7, 2013

    • Adam K.

Please do come Peter. No tickets required, just turn up and walk with Galha. We'll post up details of how to find us nearer the time :) Bring as many friends as you can!

      June 7, 2013

    • Peter

Thanks Adam. I'll be bringing one guy with me. See you then and thanks again :)
