We are an LGBTQ peer-led discussion and support group dealing with emotional health and wellness. We provide a safe, open and non-judgmental environment encouraging members to listen to each other, share experiences, interact, and learn ways to cope, heal and grow, and make friends. We do this in an atmosphere of welcome, acceptance and empathy. We meet the 2nd Thursday of the month at the LGBT Community Center in New York City. We encourage members to talk from our own personal experience. We want the group to be a safe space and we encourage confidentiality, as much as is humanly and realistically possible. We encourage interaction, discussion and friendship, but we shy away from telling someone what they should do. We discuss anxiety, depression, OCD, loneliness, relationship issues, etc. We meet at a restaurant about two weeks after the center meeting. The restaurant is a less formal, more social get-together. We have recently added a support group meeting at a West Village church on the first Wednesday of the month. (The church has graciously offered us this space to use, but by no means are we advocating any particular religion.)The group is a joint effort among all members. The group is for LGBTQ people. We would like group attendance to reflect our diversity. We have a diverse group of facilitators with respect to gender, age, and ethnicity. If people want to get more info. about the group before joining, please e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you.
