Note, I do not support this Lady, I only support her cause.

This issue with Illegal Immigration and the high rate of crime caused by them in Houston, TX must be addressed. I feel like a hypocrite, as the last thing we need are more laws, however this problem must be remedied

If you say that this problem does not concern you, then the future strength of our nation does not concern you either.

Years ago (06-92) the city of Houston allowed a general order (500-5) to be enforced generally forbidding police officers to enquire about individuals' legal status.

Consider: The Department of Homeland Security admits they can't find over 80,000 hard-core criminal illegal aliens and over 400,000 visa violators in this country. Around one-fourth of Texas federal prisoners are illegal aliens. Because Houston is one of the nation's largest centers for trafficking in drugs and illegal aliens, an estimated 4,000 plus illegal aliens arrive here daily!

Houston's don't ask 'sanctuary policy' hand cuffs our law enforcement officers, enables criminals and endangers citizens. Trials of our illegal alien serial killers make national headlines. Violent illegal alien gangs establish organized crime syndicates and recruit members in our schools and prisons. Illegal alien predators prey on our children. Illegal aliens pulled over for traffic violations or involved in auto accidents often go free because the police can't ask for proof of their legal status. Criminal illegal aliens market phony ID's for other illegals by stealing citizens' social security numbers and other personal information. Law abiding Houstonians are forced to pay the enormous cost of jails, legal trials, lawyers, and foreign language interpreters for these criminal illegals, as well as, the social, medical, and educational cost for their families/children living here.

Former U. S. Attorney General John Ashcroft asked all law enforcement agencies to help fight terrorism by enforcing our nation's immigration laws. Outraged Texas Congressmen, representing the Houston area, have introduced bills in Washington to withhold federal funds from sanctuary cities like Houston. Federal dollars are now used to train local police to aid U.S. immigration officers. Crime victims, and national organizations (Judicial Watch) are suing cities, such as Austin and Los Angeles, over their 'sanctuary policies'. Candidates campaign, political parties pass resolutions, and local citizens testify before city council on this issue in Houston.

Our local elected officials can no longer hide behind their claim that it's only the federal government's responsibility to identify and arrest illegal aliens. Certainly, the federal government needs to do much greater enforcement, but meanwhile, our local police must be allowed to arrest these foreign criminals and to fully cooperate with federal immigration agencies. Remember, not only does this don't ask 'sanctuary policy' act as a magnet for criminal illegal aliens but it also endangers millions of people and the nation's energy supply by making Houston an inviting city for terrorist to operate in.

What I find funny (in a morbid sense) is that Immigration is a Federal Issue, it is governed by Federal Legislation passed by Congress; yet local municipalities elect to 'un-enforce' the Federal Law when it comes to Immigration with these 'Sanctuary Policies'.

Coming from California - where the people of the state passed the Medical Marijuana Initiative (prop 215) by a 2/3rds majority, the local police municipalities are still arresting, and prosecuting, patients for violation of Federal Drug Laws. I guess Federal Law trumps State and Local Law only when it's convenient for Local Law Enforcement...

It wouldn't be so bad if people at least knew WHICH laws were being enforced in differring areas.
