John Clifton - LP Candidate for Comptroller

This location is shown only to members

John Clifton, the Libertarian Party's candidate for Comptroller, will address the LPQC at its General Membership Meeting on Saturday, July 11, 2009 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Bohemian Hall (29-19 24th Avenue, Astoria, New York).

John Clifton believes New York City spends too much, taxes too much, and is $7 billion in per capita debt. As this city spends $70 billion a year, more than most states, is the Comptroller’s auditing function just a sham? John Clifton agrees with Joseph Dobrian (LP Candidate for Mayor) that not one thin dime of city tax dollars should be spent on any authoritarian law or program. He also agrees with Jim Lesczynski LP Candidate for Public Advocate) that certain city offices (like Public Advocate, and even Comptroller) serve little purpose or operate mainly as a political perk. Clifton will oppose perks, as well as all spending or tax abuses. As Comptroller he will advocate for fiscal sanity to use funds solely to protect basic rights to life, liberty or property.

John Clifton grew up in Jamaica, Queens, attending PS 50 (valedictorian, 1969), IS 8, Andrew Jackson HS, and the New School for Social Research. A former social worker and Navy veteran, now internet marketer, Clifton has chaired the Libertarian Party of NY, was its candidate in the 2000 U.S. Senate race, and 2006 Governor’s race. He also started the first Ron Paul Meetup in NYC in 2007. He encourages all New Yorkers to support Libertarians to bring freedom back to New York. Clifton strongly fights for property rights and against eminent domain abuse, supporting causes like Develop Don’t Destroy Brooklyn. He can be reached at [masked].
