Hello all, Peter (the cosmologist) made the suggestion to discuss whether revolutions ever amounted to anything good. Here's what went through his mind :quote: "By definitions revolutions are destructive, often to catastrophic levels. What revolutions of recent time (200 odd years) have achieved the long term outcomes those who fought them hoped for ? Is there any guarantee that after a revolution has been fought whether the right leadership is able to build the new world ?"
For me the term 'revolution' has not such negative connotations - does it not just mean that something turns, revolves, evolves ?
And how can we know what would have happened without the revolution ? Hard to say 'cos it would just be speculation, no ? Anyway, I think this can be an interesting topic with lots of different takes on it. Looking forward to hearing them !
