Life changing experiences ?

What or who has really influenced you in your life ? And I don't mean your up-bringing and the way your parents formed and educated you, but something or someone that came into your life later and changed its direction. Maybe just a realization that 'this cannot go on like that' or a spiritual or near-death experience, and accident, a loss, someone who arrived in your life and made you see things in a completely new way. Has anything like this happened to you ? Do you think events like that can change a person or are we stuck in our genetically programmed way from the day we were born with little possibility to deviate from it ?

Yes, it does not always go as planned, but being adaptable and going with the flow could be one option, the other of course would be voicing your opinion during the meeting and directing the discussion in another (or the planned) direction if you're dissatisfied - that's what this group is for: communication.
I like Maria's suggestion for a topic: "Modern manners" and how they might have changed through our new means of communication. What do you guys think ? Would that be a topic of interest ?

Sounds good to me..especially since it is such a scarce commodity..in economic terms :)

Although it was an interesting evening I'm left with an unsatisfactory feeling. I know it is not always easy or possible to stick strict to the topic on hand but the 'economy' was for my taste - again - far to prominent in the discussion. That is not what I expect from this group.

Wow, giving me 20 minutes notice was far too late to change my plans. See you another time.

Hi Maria, sorry that people cancel so late and don't give others the chance to fill their place and there are usually even no-shows who don't even bother to cancel at all... seems to be the nature of lots of people - non-commitment...

Ziggy, I understand. Maybe "Modern Manners" might be a good future topic!
