I had good luck w/ Gentoo back about 6 years ago (been a long time since I installed on PPC).

Seriously, there's Fedora, Yellow Dog, and that's all that I can think
of off the top of my head :).  I'm sure there's more.  I think that
CentOS has a PPC build too, but probably not good for a desktop, since
it is CentOS :).  (nothing against CentOS on a server, I use that and
love it).
