I brought the issue up to my roommate who suggested some place on 2222 and Mopac called "Chez Zee."  They serve American food and are used to hosting groups often.

Although, I might add, as a South Austin resident, I am partial to the library idea, as it could be rotated, granting everyone an opportunity to have a shorter commute now and then.
