Do you know someone in the Austin area who has seen all the computer industry news on Linux or the job bill boards around town that refer to Linux, and would like to learn more about "what is Linux" and "kick the tires" of Linux?
Austin Community College Continuing Education is now offering a new introductory course on Linux called "Getting to Know Linux". This course is an introduction to the Linux operating system. It provides the basics for installing and using Linux with some Linux applications for common everyday tasks. In addition, it can be used as a starting point before the student takes some additional education towards a Linux certification and possibly a career in Linux. The graphical user interface will primarily be used for this course, and the command line will be introduced to help students who will go on to more advanced study and work with Linux.
