Harbor Cruise! An evening paddle.

Launching from the public boat launch where there is plenty of parking at this time of the year (we hope!). This will be a casual paddle around the harbor to the Point and back. Bring a snack and beverage if you'd like.

Tim, send me an e-mail with your height, weight, age, general condition, where you plan to paddle, etc., and I'll give you a short list of decent kayaks to go look at. Best.

Need your email, Glen. Made my decision last night. Many, maybe even most, wouldn't agree, but after owning three different makes, models, sizes and paddling umpteen more, I've re-bought the one I sold earlier this Spring: a Perception Prodigy 10.0. Was going to buy a Hurricane Santee 116...until I took it for a test ride. Came close to a Pungo 120, which I rejected primarily (but not exclusively) because of the awkwardness of getting on the roof of my car. Lord knows how many boats are better than the Prodigy for different folks and and for different characteristics. But none has been better across the board on the things that matter most to me. P.S. My email is: [masked].

What a perfect night! Flat water and flat light, with three or four "courtesy rollers" from who-knows-where. We should have stayed for the sunset, though--it was awesome! It was great to get out and enjoy the harbor with all of you.

I am going to try this one...where is the final decision to meet...please give directions. I know where the marina is by the Pier Restaurant..from there?

Looks like Ford Park is the place, a little east of the marina. Look for parking lot/boat launch. I'm glad you can make it!

Are you going to be able to make it, Anne?

Will miss this paddle too due to a Michigan Bell ex employees reunion!...but it would be a perfect paddle for me! One of these days, I will join you on a leisurely outting!

Kayak pier is in the water. Ford park has plenty of parking and restrooms. Let's meet there.

Ford park is the launch ramp area, not the public marina. The kayak pier at Ford park is not in the water as of today. Maybe by Tues.?

    June 4, 2014

    • Sue B.

Thanks, Nancy. I've never kayaked in HS. Keep us posted about the pier. Maybe Zoll St. beach instead?
