RUFF (Rescues United For Fun) Meetup

Calling San Francisco's small rescue dogs for a meetup on the first Saturday of each month at 11:30 am in Pine Lake Dog Park in Stern Grove.

If you have a small rescue dog and want to meet other rescues and their parents, please join us for off-leash play and schmoozing.

Don't worry if your dog is quirky; ours are, too!

RUFF co-organizer Shannon Bolt of The Domestic Animal has worked with shelter and rescue dogs for years. She specializes in special-needs animals and will be on hand for advice and assistance.

All rescue dogs who weigh less than 30 pounds — the mutt-ier, the better; but we won't discriminate against purebreds — and their adult people (this is NOT the place for children; many small dogs, especially those with issues, are afraid of kids) are welcome. Please remember to give all the dogs their "space" and ask before giving treats. We'll have a great time!

We socialize in one of the grassy areas west of the parking lot for 30–45 minutes (look for the RUFF sign), then we take a group walk around the park, so if you come very late, you'll have to chase us!

We are again, so grateful and happy to see the enormous change in our little boy Sky, he has come such a long way thanks to RUFF!! This meeting was perfection! Both Sky and Finn get so excited when we say "let's go play with your friends at RUFF!" And thank you for arranging the beautiful weather! You are magical!!!!

Your boys are the comic relief of the troupe. It wouldn't be the same without you all as regulars, so thank you for being a part of the magic!

How wonderful to see Bailey making special connections with so many dogs today. Not to mention taking treats while I was wearing my big scary hat!

Hi All, jake and I are excited to join your group and socialize your rescues while making new friends. Just today I was contacted by a friend in Bakersfield who is networking a small young Doxie mix girl who needs rescue. If anyone has space or a rescue poc who might be I retested in sponsoring this girl please contact me as I am willing to transport her to help with her rescue. 5185428222. Are there parking spots there? Or will I need to park on 19th and walk down? Also, is the park fenced? It will be our first time here :) look forward to meeting other doggies and doggie parents.

Hey, Jenny. Pine Lake Park is actually off of Sloat Boulevard, and there's a parking lot by the dog play area, which is enclosed by trees and a partial barrier between the lot and the lawn. We will have non-retractable long lines on-hand in case your dog doesn't have perfect recall. It's best if your dog has a chest harness to use one of these instead of just a collar. If you're coming from 19th Ave, head WEST on Sloat and take a right onto any of the little side streets that lead to Crestlake Dr. The name of the street that leads directly to the parking lot is Vale St, and there's now a stoplight right before Vale on Sloat, but as of last month it was still nonfunctional. If you miss Vale, you can still turn right on El Mirasol and take Crestlake back to Vale. It sounds so much more complicated than it is, and it's so simple that it's complicated to explain. You can call me at[masked] if you get lost.

Thank you so much for the information! And the long leash well be handy as I only have retractable and a short non-retractable leash. Look forward to meeting everyone next weekend

    Jenny:

There's a parking lot at the bottom of the hill at the end of Vale. From Sloat, turn on to Vale, go through the open gate and down the hill.

The park is not actually fenced, but it's in a valley and very very well protected. Ezra, Shannon and all our puppy friends look forward to meeting your pup!
