Community-Wide Open Meeting about Healing and Healthy Community

YOU are invited to share your voice in an open community forum.

Several of us have had multiple signs coming from different directions that it is time we move toward healing and empowerment regarding a wide variety of issues in the alternative communities in which we move. There has been conversation for some time now about offering:
- spiritual healing rituals for survivors of sexual assault

- reiki or other healing group or circle,

- round-table discussions or forums on current issues

- guest speaker presentations or seminars

- or any other possibility coming to mind,

please come to this meeting to share your wishes, dreams, hopes, and visions about healing and creating positive, healthy community. It's also the time to perhaps volunteer and meet others to arrange collaborative efforts to manifest these dreams.

The time is NOW to step forward to move in a direction of productivity. Living Earth Center can serve as a community space to make many possibilities happen. Let's get started!

It was a great beginning. Taking away the cross-section of perceived needs for the community, we can move forward together in an empowered fashion, with our goal being sustainable, organic change. We did good work this night, and the seeds have been selected. Now we germinate and plant. If nurtured in respectful community, we can truly grow a virtue based village.

Nice group of people, many more meetings needed to clarify goals..., exciting beginning.

Anyone wanting to get on board or follow up on any of this, I'll have the meetup Message Board topics ready for your online interactive discussions and you can contact those who are on point (or me) for more info. You can also expect mailing list postings from those groups that wish to do so.

It was great to see so many people raring to go on being the change they want to see in the world!

No exact dates were set for future events as nothing is finalized. This was the beginning of what will be an ongoing journey for quite a few people who will be stepping forward in leadership and service!

Here are the breakout groups we formed in which we discussed new ideas:

    - inter-religious moderated panels/forums with invited speakers to build bridges and trust as well as celebrate diversity and tolerance within LE and the greater community (William Ashton is on point)
    - revive and grow the Hand-2-Hand Project, the community service arm of Living Earth as well as increase open hours at Living Earth Center for drop-in visiting without any events planned (Shy Yant, Jason Price, and Tina Labrie are on point)
    - Begin a support group for survivors of trauma of any type, but start with a smaller focus on trauma of a sexual nature and tapping into professional mental health resources (Kelly Krause is on point)
    - Hold regular healing circles (monthly?), which would be a ritual/ceremony by and for those who are in need of healing energy. (Michael Cutter is on point)

So wow, I am still processing all the great ideas we came up with! Those who were taking notes for each breakout group, please post those notes in the new Message Board categories you'll be seeing on the meetup site so that the conversation can continue. For those who weren't there but are interested but could not attend, I'll have full notes posted soon but essentially, we did the following:
    1) We shared our visions for the community of our future (next week, 3 years, 10 years, forever...) that is healthy and deeply healing for all,
    2) We brainstormed what we thought we could focus on starting now to help us become that community.
    3) We narrowed it down to 4 topics and created breakout groups for those who felt called to discuss and step forward to help manifest something in that topic.
    4) We exchanged ideas and contact information, and came up with some things to follow up on in the future.

I agree, and I think your insights about our inner world being reflected back to us in the world around us is spot on. Thanks for sharing.

Even if I can't make it tonight (may have other plans), I'd appreciate some drum-thumping energy thrown my way for what's a near-impossible situation at work. Even if you don't see this before tonight's session, any protective and restorative energy you want to send my way at *any* time (especially within the next week or so) would be soooooo incredibly appreciated.

    Thanks...

Is this group looking for healing or looking for healers?

    1 · July 11, 2013

    • Denise

We are treating it like an open forum to discuss the possibilities of different healing groups with a focus on creating a healthy community at large. No real agenda, as Joy wants it to be open with flowing conversation. No one knows exactly where it will end up. Hope you can make it Nightshade, your presence would be a blessing. :)

Your question is exactly the type of question I'd like us to consider at this meeting. What does our group need, what does our community need?

I think your signs are accurate and I'd love to be a part of this discussion! I'll try very hard to get off work early enough to get to the meeting on time.
