Sun June 30 Black Mtn via Hidden Villa *** 3C 10:00 11 miles, 2600' This hike has about 85% canopy but can still be challenging in hot weather. Lots of elevation change, offering a wonderful 360 degree view of the area at the top. Carry as much water as possible, extra is even better. No water or pottys along the trail. Heavy rain cancels. Moderate to fast pace. Directions: From 280 go W on El Monte / Moody Rd. Keep L at the fork, L onto Moody Rd. 1.8 miles to Hidden Villa entrance on L. $5 parking fee (no passes). CARPOOLS: Carpools are volunteer meetings, if you find no one else going to your hike you may have to drive yourself there. The Sierra Club does not have insurance for and assumes no liability for Carpooling arrangements. Ride sharing or anything similar is strictly a private arrangement among the participants who assume the risks associated with this travel. To cover drivers' expenses, it is suggested that the rider's contribution be 10 cents per mile.
