JOIN US on September 7 at the Hollister Community Center for a presentation, meet and greet, and discussion on fracking in California and San Benito County.
Fracking is a dangerous drilling technique that involves sending a highly pressurized mixture of water, sand, and toxic chemicals deep into the Earth to extract oil and gas. Fracking contaminates groundwater, increases greenhouse gas pollution and furthers our dependency of fossil fuels. The largest shale oil reserve in the United States is California’s Monterey Shale and San Benito County is situated directly above it. This is no longer someone else’s problem. You are on the front lines and the Sierra Club needs your help. Please join us for our first meeting in San Benito County and find out how you can get involved.
Local experts will be there to present on the issue, we will watch video clips, and you will have a chance to share your knowledge or to voice your concerns. You do not have to be a Sierra Club member to attend, so spread the word by telling a friend or neighbor. We are hoping to have a few dozen people there.
Please RSVP by September 5 on this Meet Up page!
See you there!
