DAY HIKERS: Pescadero Creek Park Hike - Approx 15-16 miles w/ 2,500' Elevation

Enjoy the beautiful Redwood forests of the California coastal range!  Our hike will be walking mostly in the shade and there’s a few long ‘ups’ to keep you warm.

Planned Hike Route:  Tarwater Trail Loop down along the west side of Wally's Creek to the Pomponio Trail to Shaw Flat Trail Camp, Shaw Flat Trail to the Butano Ridge Trail Loop up to Butano Ridge.

At that point we will turn west (right) and follow the ridge, somewhere along there we will have lunch. Then south east along Butano Ridge, using the Butano Ridge Trail Loop back down across Old Haul Road, Bridge Trail to Tarwater Trail Camp, and back to the trailhead on the Tarwater Trail Loop east of Wally's Creek.

Distance & Elevation Gain: Estimated total distance is around 15-16 miles with about 2,500 ft. of elevation gain.

----------------

CAR POOL: 8 AM - No Host Car pool meeting point is the Page Mill Road Park & Ride at the 280.

TRAILHEAD MEET TIME: 9 AM.   We will start the hike at 9:00AM at the Tarwater Trailhead on Camp Pomponio Road.

• Directions to the trail head: From the Park & Ride lot on Page Mill Road at the 280, take Page Mill to Skyline, go across Skyline onto Alpine Road and follow Alpine towards Portola Redwoods State Park (but do not go to that park!).

• At the junction of Alpine Road and Portola State Park Road, turn right onto Alpine. Then turn left onto Camp Pomponio Road (watch carefully for the sign, it's not large!) and follow the road to the trailhead parking lot on the left side of the road.

Please contact leaders if you've not hiked with Day Hikers before now.  SierraClub asks you to sign their usual liability waiver.   Bring with you: water, lunch, snacks, warm jacket

Hike Leaders:  Rosemary and Barry Brisco (650)[masked] - [masked]

Heavy or steady rain cancels.
