Final Picnic of the Summer (Hyde Park)

Hi everyone, after three successful picnics so far and with the summer drawing to a close, let's have one final picnic, this time in the new location of Hyde Park.

The plan would be to meet at Queensway tube station around 13.00 and head on into the park where we would eat, drink, kick balls, climb trees, perform egg and spoon races etc (I make no guarantees about the last three activities).

Hyde Park needs no introduction really, being the most famous and most central of the royal parks. It's easy to get to, has good conveniences (toilets etc) and nearby shops.

In terms of practicalities, if you want to eat and drink, please bring one or two things and then happily share (or not) with other members of the group. There will be shops not far from where we will be sitting, so you can buy food on arrival if that is easier. I will bring some disposable cups, plates, knives and forks. I would also recommend that you bring a blanket to sit on.

The meeting point is Queensway tube station at 13.00. For latecomers, the general location we will be situated in the park is in the centre of the Kensington Gardens part of the park. The exact location is marked on this map:

http://goo.gl/maps/KRU3W

There is no finishing time to the event. We will stay as long as we are enjoying ourselves, and if people want we can move on to a bar etc afterwards (this is normally the case and we will be very close to Soho if we wish to wander in later on).

I'll give out my number the day before to everyone who's signed up. If you try to phone me and can't get through immediately, please understand I may be receiving a lot of calls.

Did anyone leave the picnic not fully sighted?! Someone left a pair of glasses at the picnic last month. Sorry it's taken me ages to post a message...I kept forgetting! I have the glasses and can return them to you

it was lovely and I enjoyed it...
though next time it could be useful just a secondary meeting point easy to be found just in case...
it was a pity that so many friends of ours just have missed to join us as they couldn't find us though Max gave us his mobile number and then another one to be called... :-(
hope to meet and see those missed people asap... :-)

Btw, there is a meetup app for your smartphone (dunno about Blackberry, but definitely for iPhone/Android) that can help keep up with things during events if you're likely to turn up late (especially for things where locations can be less well defined like this - not much point for the bar meets apart from "signing in"/checking location if you're new to it, but very handy for outside stuff).

I meant that things can ever be improved... and related to events like that they can ever be better arranged learning from mistakes...
and that's although you're right speaking as you just did...
then off course some people will be ever missed and that's part of the game... ;-)
I could even mention that our fellows weren't to the point indicated trough the google-map link and if a good guy wouldn't have given through the meetup a valid number to be phoned probably I wouldn't have found them as well...

Would have loved to have been a fly on the wall of that conversation Slawek! It comes close second to my male best friend being pinched by a woman in a bar while dressed up in a Top Gun jumpsuit fancy dress. She said 'I like a man in uniform', to which he replied 'so do I'. I missed the look of bewilderment on her face sadly..

Thanks to everyone who came out for this. I can't apologise enough to the people who didn't find us- of all the days for my phone to die! We tried to set things up so that most people found us in the end but I am sorry to those who didn't.

bet that left you feeling a bit deflated. :-) Sorry, I think a combination of techno dancing and table tennis this weekend has left my sense of humour lacking. Being hit by ping pong balls must have left me with slight concussion...

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
