Love it, hate it, or ignore it, Christmas is nearing (*) again. So come and have a lovely dinner evening with us for our last meet of the year, I hope you can join the group for a dinner (and optional drinks) to meet more of our group, old and new, and celebrate with us another year of great meets and the group going from strength to strength on Friday 14th December. There will be a lot of new members again and probably a good number of regulars too, so don't feel afraid to make this your first meet if you know you can come and enjoy dinners/chat/non-bar meets. But do please treat your rsvp seriously for this event as it involves a lot more organising and money than our usual (free) meets.
We're eating Chinese style at New World, upstairs in a room for us (an earlier booking should be finished by then). They who have a lot of space and where the group has dined a couple of times before successfully (though with fewer of us at once). With food as the conversation lubricant and ice-breaker, it will be a break from the usual bar atmosphere. The dining area is open plan. We've been to New World before as a group with a few people and enjoyed it.
I have booked the dinner and paid a deposit, so as I've said, PLEASE KEEP YOUR RSVP UPDATED if you change your mind. This is so that other guests don't lose out on the spaces available, the restaurant can give us the right table space, and I'm not out of pocket - avoid last-minute changes if you can help it. If you have a Yes RSVP but do not turn up for booked events like this, it can count against you for certain group events in the future.
The two menus are finally available (click to download the documents from the "Files" section for our group).
The set menu (3 choices, £16.80 to 23.80)
The main (regular) menu.
Choosing set menus on a per-table(min.5) basis has been suggested as a good way to get served quicker and make payment easier at the end. Individual orders will slow things down. If you'd like to meet beforehand, see Abdul's comments about Costa coffee on the event page. Please be on time, especially if you'd like one of the set-menus. The restaurant does alcohol (typical chinese beers) and soft drinks, green tea etc. - obviously biased to chinese options.
PS: There is no regular 4th Thursday meet this month as usual for Christmas, as its too awkwardly placed. Fancy a new year's meet/party? Suggest it/start one off!
