London Bisexuals Monthly Pub Social

Our regular pub social meet on the 4th Thursday of every month. These are also great for new members to come and say hi and get a feel for the group. We have a good attendance (50 or more) to this meet, always with a good mix of regulars and first-timers, guys and girls. So always quite a lot of new faces, nearly all of whom came on their own - you won't be the only new person I promise (by a long way). Other events happen at random between these socials, with things like dinners, clubbing nights, comedy, plays or anything else you can suggest that gets interest!

If you haven't been, regulars and first-timers will confirm that its a very friendly, open and welcoming environment to hang out in, evidenced by members' reviews (also see attendee notes on all past event pages).

THIS MONTH we meet downstairs at the O Bar in Soho. This is via the stairs at the back of the bar on the ground floor (though they just finished refurbishing ground floor, hope it hasn't changed). Look for the meetup.com logo or the main organiser (myself, John) name + "meetup group" on a reserved-table sign or for me in person! Though we'll have the whole downstairs to ourselves early on. Expect a normal bar sort of mood, atmosphere, and chat levels - sometimes bi-related, often not; cocktails rather than ales but of course soft drinks also available, and there's a happy hour (or two) of cheap drinks if you're there on time. We do our best to influence the staff not to have the music too loud to allow talking, its much quieter than the ground-floor's club-like volume level; at least until late 'eve.   A little warning: if you turn up later (maybe 8.45pm-ish onwards) and the pub happens to be averagely or more busy, it might be hard to get in or to downstairs with a wait for someone else to leave (from another group, not usually ours) before you can enter. Tell them you're there for John G's meetup group in the basement and that should ease getting in to our area, and bring photo ID if you've been asked for it at all recently anywhere (they have been known to be picky).

We have a twitter presence ( londonbi), and a facebook page (but the meetup site and sometimes twitter are where the info/activity is).

Finding O Bar

The O Bar is at 83-85 Wardour St, right on the corner of Brewer St and Wardour Street, near Leicester Square / Piccadilly Circus. Its opposite the end of Old Compton St. furthest away from Charing Cross Rd and Leicester Square tube. I try to have a printed out meetup logo for the table (half A4) nearby and I am easily recognisable from my profile photo (I'm also 6' so look for a tall guy with long hair). Don't be afraid to ask groups if they're the meetup group or call me to check where we are, or hang around a bit if you're early. By later on we've usually taken over most of the space upstairs. We have reserved tables from 7.30pm and are there til at least 10.30pm, sometimes til 1am when they close (maybe even clubbing after if enough of us fancy it).

Yes, we're DOWNSTAIRS this month, in the (white and reflective-themed, more club-like) basement. Should be plenty of space for us, But still try not to be too late (we're usually there til well after 10pm though some will have left by then, often still a group there til 12 or 1am).

not knowing anyone, will be my first time there. is there a way i can go with someone?

    November 17, 2012

    • John G

Yes, be careful of posting any contact details anywhere online. The group is not private, anyone can see some of the details. Generally though, the sleazier members don't turn up to our real life meets.

Hi, yes its a good place to meet folk and to be able to chat in a relaxed atmosphere. Doesn't mean they'll all be on your wavelength but ther are many folk new to the community and to share experiences or ask Qs or just enjoy chatting to/about stuff. I like having the space to chat and feel comfortable among folk.

Before we know it, Christmas will be here! So get on the ball early and book your party now with us!

Are you in charge of the Christmas party this year and have no where to go? Why not ask to arrange a free party with a difference?

Are you and your mates looking for a fun night out to get in the crimbo mood? With plenty of pool and snooker tables (plus darts and live SKYSPORTS), you can not only eat, drink and be merry, but also be assured of a party with balls!

There are no booking fees or no deposits, just tell us what you want and we will sort it with added atmosphere! Now you can just enjoy your night without the worry!
