Can also suggest Pizza Express as a possibility - they have branches everywhere and one on Haymarket.
Anyway, we'll see what comes out of the meeting :)

May I suggest wetherspoon's maybe? Affordable for people like me. There's one called The Knight's Templar I think - can't remember for certain? It's in Holborn and really nice. I went to a Xmas party for another group there a few years ago.

Restaurants are lovely but I only seem to be able to go to them when friends pay for me!

There are some affordable buffet places though, I recall - 2 nice Chinese/ Thai places. One on Shaftesbury avenue and one just off it.

Edgware road is less accessible for the non-west londoners.
What do you think?
Lydia

Sorry to say but wetherspoons makes me feel dirty in a bad way lol, they don't seem to have much atmosphere if I'm honest. There are a lot of places around that might do a happy hour til 8pm though? That way perhaps we can meet for cheaper drinks somewhere nice before heading to eat?

I agree Edgware roads a little out of the way. Souk sounds like a lovely choice; been meaning to go there for ages

Hi

I might finally get to meet with you guys :).

However I do agree edgware is a bit out of the way for most people (though I would'nt want to go too far east either, as I'm in w london myself). I have a tastecard, which I can use to get 241 & 50% at loads of places in london for up to 12 people. If anyone else has one (you can get a months free trial even), it can save quite a bit of money potentially.

I'll mention it at the pub social tonight (Thurs) and see if we get more ideas - we've had a couple of votes for Souk, and Covent Garden is definitely central enough. I agree about Edgware Rd being a bit further out and while it's not out of the question, I would prefer somewhere more zone-1-ey.

Votes from active and attending members who'll turn up are extra persuasive, the tastecard sounds like a great idea if its valid for any of the top choices does it cover everything or just the food? (ie not including drinks?). I suspect our number will be around the 12-ish size group, possibly more. Worst case - a few less than this. Also depends on table space available.

Hi

The taste card is for food only. Some restaurants don't take it for Friday and/or Saturday, so I'll look around. I've not had any trouble booking in advance, but that has been on other nights and with much fewer people. So let me know what you guys think.
