For now the format of the meetups is still to break into conversations and discuss whatever aspects of search technology interest us.
That usually encompases a fairly wide range of technology, Lucene, Solr, Xapian, Compass, etc. and a fairly wide range of perspectives, from code and open source contribution to search business, jobs, and consultation.
@Jeremy: I have done a number of projects using Lucene/Solr, and Lucene also played an important role in almost all past search socials. For me it would be very interesting to have a chat with someone who has hands-on experience with Compass so I hope we meet in January! ;-)
Hey all, Just found about you from the solr user newsgroup. Wish I had the time to come but such short notice and coming from the Scottish Borders don't help !!. If anyone has time I would love to ask a few Q's re solr.

I'm familiar with Compass within context of Grails. I have a beginner's knowledge of Lucene, Nutch and Solr and have looked into Hibernate Search a bit too. I'm about to begin reviewing Lucene in Action 2nd edition for Manning. Tika and Aperture in particular interests me. Has anyone else got a similar interest?
