What was your first programming language?

What challenges are you looking to solve with search technology?

Anything to do with designing effective search & discovery user experiences. Plus I like to get under the hood and hack stuff too.

Do you have a particular search technology that you consider "home turf"?

Endeca at the moment. Previously, Lucene + various R&D demonstrators & prototypes

I head up UX at Endeca's EMEA practice, so always happy to meet other folks who are into search and IR. I am also vice chair of the BCS info retrieval SIG and chair of the Search Solutions conference series, always on the lookout for good speakers :)
