In this first meet-up of the XForms User Group, Mark Birbeck will look at what XForms are, and why they are useful in a range of situations -- from web applications, to XRX applications, to desktop applications. In particular he'll explain the MVC architecture of XForms, and illustrate why it is the next generation of web applications.
There will also be an 'open' slot, where anyone can show anything from demos and interesting ideas, to intractable problems.
There'll be lots of opportunity for questions, both before and after we go to the pub, so if you're working with XForms, thinking of working in XForms, or just want to hear some new ideas in the field of user interfaces, then we'd love to see you here.
Hi Jeremy,
I am, yes. (Thanks for flagging it up.)
I was going to wait until during the day on Monday, though, and combine it with a little reminder. I thought everyone would be more likely to see it then, rather then sending it over the weekend.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
Mark
It was great to meet everyone last night, both in the session, and over a beer (those of you who were able to stick around). There were some great questions and observations during my talk -- thanks for that.
The video of the talk is now online, and you can get to it from here: http://xformsdz.org/article/2009/09/introduction-to-xform...![]()

Ar you going to post a link so people can sign up on the host website Skills Matter? They normally like to know who's turning up and gauge the numbers. (Speaking from past experiences with London Java Community)
